Psychotherapy for Children and Youth
SenseBloom Therapy & Development Center offers psychotherapy support for children and youth and welcomes inquiries from families in North York, Toronto and Ajax. Psychotherapy provides a confidential, developmentally appropriate space to explore emotions, stress, relationships and behavioural concerns with a qualified mental health professional. The type of therapy and level of caregiver involvement depend on the young person’s needs and the clinician’s assessment; contact the team to confirm provider credentials and available appointments.

What can children and teens talk about?
Some young people can explain what is troubling them; others show distress through withdrawal, changes in behaviour, difficulty at school or tension at home. Therapy starts by understanding the person—not applying a label from one symptom.
- Anxiety, worries and coping with stress
- Mood, self-esteem and emotional expression
- Relationships, family changes and adjustment
- Recognizing feelings and building coping strategies
How getting started works
- Share concerns and what support you hope for.
- Discuss fit, confidentiality and the therapeutic approach.
- Set goals together and revisit them as needs change.
Questions families often ask
Is psychotherapy only for teens?
No. Approaches are adapted to a young person’s age and developmental level.
Will parents be involved?
The clinician can explain how caregiver involvement and confidentiality are handled for the child’s age and needs.
Is psychotherapy the same as play-informed therapy?
Not necessarily. Play can be one method used in therapy, while psychotherapy refers to a broader clinical service.
